WHAT IS TELETEXT-TOOLS?
A modern tool site that behaves like classic Teletext/Ceefax.
That means: discrete pages, page-number navigation, and no scrolling.
If something does not fit, it becomes another screen — the Teletext way.
HOW DO I GO TO A PAGE?
Type a 3-digit number into the PAGE box to jump instantly.
You can also tap any row or on-screen page number.
WHAT ARE NEXT / PREVIOUS?
There are two kinds of “next”:
• NEXT>>> / <<<PREVIOUS inside a page = internal screens
• A new page number (e.g. 101 → 199) = a different Teletext page
WHY DOES NOTHING SCROLL?
Teletext pages were designed to fit within the TV frame.
Teletext-Tools keeps everything visible between header and footer.
Instead of scrolling, pages use internal screens (1/2, 2/2, etc.).
WHY NOT JUST SHRINK THE TEXT?
Shrinking text breaks the Teletext illusion and reduces readability.
Teletext solves overflow with more pages, not smaller type.
WHY DOES MOBILE LOOK DIFFERENT?
Mobile is usually one column only.
The correct solution for extra content is internal screens, not columns.
HOW DO CONVERTERS WORK?
Enter a VALUE, pick a FROM unit and a TO unit.
The RESULT updates instantly.
WHERE DO I FIND THE RIGHT CONVERTER?
Start at P200 (Converters Hub).
If you know the unit but not the category, use P201 (Unit Finder).
WHAT ARE PRESETS / EXAMPLES FOR?
Presets speed up common jobs (classroom, workshop, everyday use).
They do not change the conversion — they just fill sensible starting values.
CAN I USE DECIMALS?
Yes. Use a dot for decimals (e.g. 1.5).
The converter will handle it immediately.
CAN I USE NEGATIVE VALUES?
Yes where it makes sense (temperatures, offsets, relative values).
If a negative value gives a weird result, re-check FROM and TO.
MY RESULT LOOKS WRONG — WHY?
Most issues are one of these:
• FROM/TO swapped
• wrong unit family (e.g. US ton vs metric tonne)
• value typed with a comma instead of a dot
Fix: confirm the unit names first, then the number.
WHY ARE TRAILING ZEROS REMOVED?
To keep results readable in a Teletext layout.
The conversion is still correct — we simply format the display.
HOW DO I GET MORE PRECISION?
Try one of these:
• change the input slightly (more digits)
• convert to a smaller unit (e.g. m → mm)
• use a unit scale that produces cleaner numbers
WHEN DO YOU USE SCIENTIFIC NOTATION?
Only when it clearly helps with very large or very small values.
Otherwise results stay in normal decimals where possible.
WHERE ARE THE CLOCKS AND TIME TOOLS?
Time and clock tools live in the 400-range pages.
Use the directory (P101) or the index (P199) to find the tool you want fast.
DO TOOLS REMEMBER MY SETTINGS?
Many tools remember your last choices on your device (for speed).
If you clear browser data, those saved choices may reset.
CAN I USE MY OWN BACKGROUND PHOTO?
Some display tools let you place your own photo behind the Teletext UI.
This is stored locally on your device (it is not uploaded).
CAN I SHARE A SPECIFIC TOOL?
Yes. Copy the page URL and send it.
The page number is also shareable (P101, P200, etc.).
WHAT ABOUT SHARING A SPECIFIC SETUP?
Some tools include settings in the URL.
Others remember settings locally on your device.
If a shared link opens but looks “default”, re-check that you are on the right page and screen.
HOW DO I GET A BIG FULLSCREEN DISPLAY?
Some tools offer a fullscreen mode for wall displays.
On iPhone/iPad, “Add to Home Screen” often gives a cleaner fullscreen feel.
WHY DO SWIPES SOMETIMES “EAT” TAPS?
iOS can trigger an unwanted tap after a swipe (“ghost tap”).
Teletext-Tools blocks clicks briefly after swipes so navigation stays predictable.
WHAT SHOULD I TRY FIRST IF SOMETHING LOOKS OFF?
Try these in order:
• reload once
• confirm the page number
• re-check FROM/TO units (converters)
• rotate device (portrait/landscape)
If text overlaps header/footer, that is a layout fault (not your device).
HOW DO I REPORT A PROBLEM?
Use the Contact page (P104). Include:
• page number
• device (iPhone/iPad/desktop) and orientation
• what you expected vs what happened
