HOW TO USE

1) Pick TYPE and DIR

2) Press START (gradient appears)

3) Optional: press FULLSCREEN

4) Exit: ESC or tap

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Banding: visible steps instead of smooth fade

Tint: edges shift pink/green/blue

Dirty screen: patches when viewing close

QUICK TIPS

Try HORIZ then VERT (some panels vary by axis).

Turn off “night shift” / blue-light filters for neutral testing.

Use moderate brightness to reduce glare.

FAQ

Why do I see lines? that’s banding (or compression on some screens).

Is it my phone? often yes — panels differ widely.

Does fullscreen change it? sometimes (scaling / colour mgmt).

Should I max brightness? not necessary; try mid first.

OLED / IPS NOTES

OLED: can show tint at low brightness.

IPS: may show glow at angles (view straight on).

PWM dimming: some phones flicker when very low.

SAFETY

Photosensitive users: avoid rapid switching.

Heat: long fullscreen at high brightness warms devices.

MINI BLOG

A smooth gradient is one of the fastest ways to spot banding.

If the fade looks “steppy”, your panel (or its processing) is quantising the shades.

Use LUMA for greys, then RGB to check colour transitions.
