WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Dead pixel: black dot on bright colours

Stuck pixel: bright dot that stays coloured

Hot pixel: brighter than neighbours (common on OLED)

BEST PRACTICE

Clean the screen first (dust can look like a pixel issue).

View straight-on. Angle shifts can hide small defects.

Use moderate brightness to avoid glare.

FAQ

One dot only? many panels ship with tolerance.

Can I fix it? stuck pixels sometimes improve, dead pixels don’t.

Is it burn-in? burn-in is a faint ghost image, not a single dot.

Why does it move? it’s probably dust or a smudge.

OLED / LCD NOTES

OLED: near-black can show “mura” (patchiness).

LCD: may show backlight bleed on black.

PWM: very low brightness can look flickery.

SAFETY

Avoid rapid flashing if sensitive to light changes.

Heat: long fullscreen at max brightness warms devices.

MINI BLOG

Solid colours make tiny defects stand out. Use white for dead pixels and black for glow/bleed.

A stuck pixel is often easiest to see on the opposite colour (e.g. red dot on green).

If you’re checking a new screen, scan slowly in a dim room.
