HOW TO USE
1) Press START
2) Optional: FULLSCREEN
3) Switch SIZE to reveal scaling artifacts
4) Use INVERT to change which pixels are lit
5) Exit: ESC or tap/click screen
WHAT IT TESTS
Sharpness: does 1px look crisp or blurred?
Scaling: shimmer = interpolation / resizing
Moiré: interference patterns on fine grids
Uniformity: look for tinted patches on grey mode
BEST RESULTS
Use native resolution (no browser zoom).
Disable “smooth scaling” settings if available.
Try both portrait and landscape orientations.
FAQ
Why does 1px look like grey? subpixel layout + scaling.
Why does it “crawl”? your display is resampling the pattern.
Is this bad? not necessarily — TVs often scale everything.
How do I reduce it? use native res, disable motion processing.
TV / MONITOR NOTES
TVs: set “PC mode” or “Game mode” for cleaner pixels.
Monitors: check sharpness setting isn’t oversharpening.
Phones: try different brightness levels.
SAFETY
No flashing here — but avoid staring close-up for long.
OLED: don’t leave high-contrast patterns on for hours.
MINI BLOG
A checkerboard is a “worst case” signal for scaling. If your device resizes the image, the tiny squares can blur or shimmer.
Try 2PX and 4PX to see where the picture becomes stable.
Grey mode is useful for spotting subtle tinting and panel uniformity issues.
