WHAT THIS TOOL DOES

P671
MARKS INTO A PERCENTAGE

This calculator converts marks achieved out of a total into a percentage score.

It is useful for exams, tests, quizzes, coursework, mocks, homework and practice papers where the total mark can change from one assessment to another.

HOW TO USE

P671
THREE QUICK STEPS

Enter the marks you got, enter the total marks available, then press SOLVE.

Choose the rounding option if you need whole percentages, one decimal place or two decimal places for a more precise result.

FORMULA

P671
PERCENTAGE FORMULA
percentage = (marks got ÷ total marks) × 100

The calculator first divides your score by the total possible marks. It then multiplies by 100 to convert the result into a percentage.

WORKED EXAMPLE

P671
34 OUT OF 50
34 ÷ 50 = 0.68
0.68 × 100 = 68%

So a score of 34 marks out of 50 marks is 68 percent.

WHO USES IT

P671
STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND TUTORS

Students use it to check raw test scores. Teachers use it to convert marks quickly. Tutors and parents use it to explain progress clearly.

It is also useful when comparing papers with different totals.

COMMON USE CASES

P671
TESTS AND ASSESSMENTS

Use this tool for school tests, college assignments, university quizzes, mock exams, worksheets and practice papers.

It gives a fast percentage before you compare the result with a grade boundary or pass mark.

ROUNDING

P671
CHOOSE THE RIGHT DECIMALS

Use 0 decimal places for a simple whole-number percentage. Use 1 or 2 decimal places when a result is close to a grade boundary.

The calculation is done first, then the displayed percentage is rounded.

COMMON SEARCHES

P671
SEARCH INTENT COVERAGE

Common searches include mark percentage calculator, test percentage calculator, marks to percent, exam score percentage and what percentage is my mark.

This page answers those searches with a visible calculator, formula and worked examples.

FAQ

P671
WHAT IF TOTAL MARKS IS ZERO?

The total marks value must be greater than zero because division by zero cannot produce a valid percentage.

If marks got equals total marks, the percentage is 100 percent. If marks got is zero, the percentage is zero percent.
