WHAT THIS TOOL DOES

P674
MARKS TO GRADE ESTIMATE

This calculator converts marks scored into a percentage, then compares that percentage with editable grade boundaries.

Use it for mock exams, practice papers, homework quizzes, class tests and quick grade checks.

HOW TO USE

P674
ENTER MARKS AND BOUNDARIES

Enter marks scored and total marks. Choose a boundary set, then edit the boundary percentages to match your paper.

Press SOLVE to show percentage, threshold and estimated grade.

FORMULA

P674
PERCENTAGE FIRST
percentage = (marks scored ÷ total marks) × 100

The percentage is compared with the boundary list from highest to lowest. The first threshold reached becomes the estimated grade.

WORKED EXAMPLE

P674
48 MARKS OUT OF 80
(48 ÷ 80) × 100 = 60%

With GCSE 9-1 defaults, 60% reaches the grade 7 threshold. Change boundaries for your exact exam board and paper.

BOUNDARY SETS

P674
GCSE 9-1, PASS/FAIL OR A*-G

The set menu loads starter boundaries for common grading styles.

The values are editable because official grade boundaries vary by exam board, year, qualification and paper.

IMPORTANT NOTE

P674
NOT OFFICIAL RESULTS

This tool gives a calculation estimate only. It does not replace official exam-board grade boundaries or final results.

Always use official boundaries when accuracy matters.

WHO USES IT

P674
STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND TUTORS

Students use it to estimate grades after mock papers. Teachers and tutors use it for fast mark checks, target setting and classroom feedback.

Parents can use it to understand how marks, percentages and boundaries connect.
